Claudio Suárez is a former Mexican professional football player. He was born on December 17, 1968, in Texcoco, Mexico. Suárez played as a central defender and is considered one of the best Mexican defenders of all time. He started his professional career with UNAM Pumas in 1989 and played for the team until 1996, winning the Mexican Primera Division title three times. He then moved to Club América where he helped the team win two more titles in 1998 and 2002. Suárez also played for several other teams in Mexico and the United States, including Tigres UANL, Chivas USA, and Puebla FC. He earned 177 caps for the Mexico national team, making him the most capped player in the history of the team. Suárez retired from professional football in 2010 and currently works as a football analyst for television and radio.
